We took off on a Honda Activa for a day trip to Valpoi, around 60 kilometers from Panjim. While most of the tourist activity in Goa is centered around the beaches (Calangute, Baga, Anjuna etc.,), there is an emerging activity known as "Spice tourism" which showcases the spice plantations and estates of Goa.
We headed for Rustic Retreat after lunch on a on-and-off rainy day and a breathtakingly beautiful ride in the interiors of Goa. This part of Goa has the lush forests and is set of the Western Ghats. The roads were great and the clean pure air was a start contrast to Delhi and Mumbai.
We took turns riding the scooter with Aadya sitting/standing in the front with her colorful raincoat. Along the way we passed Amona where the ferry ride has been replaced with a bridge. We saw barges carrying steel and coal passing beneath in the still waters. We stopped at 3 or 4 places because of the rain and then journey took almost 3.5 hours.
On the way back, Aadya exchanged places (sat in-between the two of us) and promptly went off to sleep leaving us to wonder how she was able to fall asleep so easily riding pillion on a two wheeler :)
